Terms of Service

1. Who we are

Ask Ralph (“Ralph”, “we”, “us”) is an online service that helps buyers evaluate used vehicles by combining public data sources with AI-generated interpretation. These terms form a legal agreement between you and Ask Ralph. By using the service you confirm that you accept them.

2. What Ralph does — and does not do

Ralph pulls data from official and third-party sources (including the DVSA MOT History API, provenance providers and public listings) and produces a written interpretation. Reports are informational only.

3. Accounts

Some features require a free account. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in email secure and for any activity carried out under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorised use.

4. Credits, payments and refunds

Lite Checks, Deep Checks and auction credits are purchased through Stripe. Prices are shown in GBP and include VAT where applicable. A check or its stated auction credits are consumed only when the requested report successfully completes.

Because reports are generated on demand and delivered digitally, a used check or credit is ordinarily not reusable after its report has been delivered. Unused balances remain on your account. If a report clearly fails through our fault, contact us within 14 days and we will restore the relevant balance or provide the remedy required by law. Your statutory rights are unaffected.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

6. Intellectual property

Ralph’s interface, wording, prompts and generated interpretation are our intellectual property. You may share individual reports with family, friends, or the seller through the built-in share link. Do not republish reports commercially without permission.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ask Ralph is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, opportunity, or resale value arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under UK law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

8. Changes to the service and to these terms

We may update the service or these terms. Material changes will be announced on this page and, where practical, by email. Continued use after changes means you accept them.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
